Francis Johnson Obituary

Francis J. "Bud" Johnson

May 1, 1933 - April 22, 2025

Francis "Bud" Johnson passed away at Parkcliffe Care Center just short of his 92nd birthday.

He was a veteran in the Korean War and then returned and lived in Maumee, Ohio.

After working several jobs, he then became an electrician at Bowling Green State University for many years. He married his second wife, Louise, and they moved to Grand Rapids, Ohio, where they bought an old farm house on 10 acres of land and lived there for over 40 years.

They bought an old historic building in downtown Grand Rapids and renovated it into apartments and a consignment shop and named it The Brickyard.

After retirement, he and Louise pursued their love for round and square dancing and became licensed callers. They were active in several clubs such as Turkey Foot Trotters, Fountain City Squares to name a few. They renovated their house and added a dance room and taught lessons out of their home.

Francis was preceded in death by his first wife, Shirley; and second wife Louise. He is survived by 3 children and 2 stepchildren; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Per Francis's request, there will be no services or visitation. Interment will be private. The family would like to thank Parkcliffe Care Center and Residential Hospice for their care and compassion toward Bud during his time there.
