Frank Lukacs Obituary

LUKACS Frank Michael Sr. Father of Gail Dowling, Frank Lukacs, Jr., and Glenn Lukacs Francis Michael Lukacs, Sr, 88, died peacefully on January 17, 2007 at the Kingston Rehabilitation Center. He joins in death, as he did in life, the love of his life, Mildred Mae, to whom he was married 55 years at the time of her death in 1998. He leaves to cherish his memory, daughter, Gail (Tom) Dowling; son, Frank M. (Sharon) Lukacs Jr. and son, Glenn Lukacs. Seven grand-children will remember him as Gramps, Grandpa and Poppo. They are Dr. Todd (Tracy) Dowling, Scott Dowling, Trisha Dowling, Michael Lukacs (aka Frank Michael the III), Heather Lukacs, Kate Lukacs (fianc‚, Stewart Caldwell), and Hali McNeill Lukacs. Four great-grandchildren have known their "Gramps' with much love, Sarah, Jack, Christopher and Katie Dowling. Frank served his country during WWII in the U.S. Army. He served in N. Africa, Sardinia, S. France and Italy with the Signal Corp. and installed and set up submarine cables and equipment for operations of cable communications. During his service he received the American Service Medal, European African Middle Eastern Service Medal with the Bronze Arrowhead Good Conduct Medal. Frank played basketball for New Rochelle High School in New York and was inducted into the High School Hall of Fame. He came to Toledo in 1961 when he was promoted to Corporate vice-president of Sales and Marketing for Kaiser Jeep. Frank enjoyed golf and especially enjoyed the golf trips he took with his family. He was always family oriented and will be missed deeply. Friends may visit the family on Friday from 3-9 p.m. at the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave. (west of Corey Rd) with a scripture service at 7:30 p.m. Funeral services will begin at the funeral home on Saturday with prayers at 9:30 a.m. followed by Mass of the Resurrection at 10:00 a.m. at Christ the King Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Toledo Memorial Park. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider Kathleen Schmakel-Faltis Memorial Scholarship Fund at Central Catholic High School, 2550 Cherry St., Toledo, OH 43608.
