George P.
George P. Makras, age 85, of Toledo, Ohio, passed away peacefully on May 19, 2016, at Ebeid Hospice, in Sylvania. He was born July 17, 1930, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to the late Peter and Despina Makras.George worked as an exemplary beer truck driver for over 30 years. He served as a trustee for Elks Lodge 53, Sylvania. George had a love for cars, and could be found driving through car lots on most days.
He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Connie Makras; sons, Peter (Margo) Makras, George Makras, Michael Makras; daughter, Melissa (Rich) Mish, and dedicated grandson, Michael (Kailee) Makras, along with 10 other grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Clara Upton and Ike Makras; children, Joe and Desi Makras, and grandson, Richie Mish Jr.
Friends are invited to visit from 3-8 p.m., Monday, in the Ansberg-West Funeral Home, 3000 Sylvania Avenue, (between Secor and Douglas Roads). Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, at 12 noon, at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 740 North Superior Street. Interment will follow at Toledo Memorial Park.
