Grzywinski

February 25, 1936 -

August 25, 2024

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Geraldine (Gerrie) Marie Grzywinski, who gained her Angel Wings on August 25, 2024, in Toledo, Ohio. Geraldine was a beacon of love, kindness, and grace throughout her 88 wonderful years.

Geraldine was born to Vincent and Stella Zaleski, whose values she carried with her throughout her life. She was preceded in death by her loving parents, her devoted husband, James Grzywinski;, and her grandson, Matthew Winckowski. Their memories remained close to her heart, guiding her through every step of her journey.

A graduate of St. Ursula Academy High School, Geraldine went on to work at The Holiday Inn and Quality Inn, where she was known for her unwavering dedication and warm hospitality. Her work ethic was matched only by her love for her family, who were always at the center of her world.

Known affectionately by many titles – Mom, Angel Grandma, Bushie, Boo, Girlfriend and Golden Girl –Geraldine had a remarkable ability to make everyone feel special and loved. She always looked impeccable, with her hair, nails, and clothes. Her home was a place of warmth and welcome, where she entertained family and friends with her exceptional cooking and vibrant personality.

Geraldine loved spending time with her sister Joan, shopping, cooking, and enjoying lunches with her dear family and friends. She found immense joy in attending her grandchildren and great-grandchildren's events, and cherished every moment spent boating, camping and vacationing with family to the beach or lake. Her family gatherings were filled with laughter, love, and the beautiful memories she created.

A woman of many talents and compassion, Geraldine had an uncanny ability to have whatever you needed, always ready to lend a helping hand or a listening ear. Her legacy of love, strength, and grace will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

Geraldine is survived by her dear sister, Joan (Donald) Kornowa; her beloved children, James (Kelley) Grzywinski and Kimberly (David) Winckowski; and her treasured grandchildren, Jody (Matt) Pugh, Jamie (Steve) Sawyer, and Casey (Amanda) Winckowski. She was also a doting great-grandmother to Mason and Molly Sawyer, Ryan and Emery Pugh, and Levi, Annabelle, and Maverick Winckowski. Each of them held a special place in her heart and were the source of her greatest joys.

Visitation will be held from 2:00-8:00 p.m. on Friday, August 30, 2024 at David R. Jasin-Hoening Funeral Home, 5300 N. Summit St. Toledo, Ohio 43611.

A Funeral Mass to honor and celebrate Geraldine's life will be held on Saturday, August 31, 2024 at 9:00 a.m. at St. Ignatius Catholic Church, 212 N. Stadium Dr., Oregon, Ohio 43616. Family and friends will gather and meet at church. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.

Geraldine touched countless lives with her kindness and generosity. Though she is no longer with us, her spirit will continue to inspire and guide us. She will be deeply missed but forever remembered with love.
