Glenn was one year ahead of me at Devilbiss High School. Through the years we would occasionally see each other and have extended conversations about basketball, DHS and mutual friends. Glenn and I were the last two candidates considered for the DHS varsity basketball team in 49-50. The head coach, Bob Rettig, stopped at my study hall, slid into a seat behind me and told me he was keeping Glenn and cutting me. I never did play high school basketball, later played at UT as a "walk on", earned a scholarship and played on UT's first MAC championship team in 53-54. That's the way the ball bounces, as Glenn would say it. Glenn Jr. may remember meeting my wife Jan and I in the early 2000's. Glenn was doing some landscape work in Westchester Woods, where we used to live. While on a walk we began a conversation and Glenn, you may remember, you told me your name. I told you I knew your father and we had a conversation. God bless Glenn, coach Rettig once called him "Dynamite" Brooks in a school pep rally. I know he loved that moment. Our condolences to the Brooks family.
