Harry Niday Obituary

NIDAY Harry E. He was born August 4, 1917, in Narrows, Virginia, a son of the late George and Georganne Rogers Niday. Harry was born in a log cabin in the Blue Ridge Mountain area of Virginia where his family farmed. His lifelong values of integrity and duty to his family and country were instilled in him at a young age. He respected hard work and honesty above status or money. He was devoted to his loving wife, Mary and his children. Harry was a veteran of World War II and after serving 44 months in the Navy he returned to Charleston, WV to work as a millwright at the DuPont plant at Belle. In 1959 Harry was promoted to oversee the Teflon department at the new DuPont plant in Parkersburg. On many occasions in his working career he received recognition for his helpful and insightful suggestions to improve not only working conditions but product development. In 1976 he retired from DuPont after 42 years and enjoyed a long full retirement. He had many hobbies and loved to travel. Harry was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mary P. Niday; and his siblings. His children, Michael Niday and Barbara Powell (Duane); his grandchildren, Sam Niday, Jennifer Failyau, Chris Ashby, Molly Ashby, and many nieces and nephews will mourn their loss but rejoice in his salvation. Funeral services will be held 4:00 p.m. Saturday, October 13, 2007 at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, Vienna, with Rev. Earle Arthur officiating. Entombment will be 2:00 p.m. Monday at the Birchlawn Burial Park, Pearisburg, Virginia. Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
