Irene GOETHALS Obituary

GOETHALS Irene L. (Stribrny) Irene L. (Stribrny) Goethals, 63, of Maumee, OH, passed away Wednesday, June 29, 2011, at St. Luke's Hospital. Irene was employed with Sylvania Township for many years as a police and fire dispatcher and then with great courage took the opportunity to attend the police academy and became a patrol officer in Sylvania Township. Because of her caring heart, Irene at age 44 made the choice to return to College and received her Associates degree at University of Toledo and Mercy school of nursing. She became a Registered Nurse working at Bay Park Hospital. In recent years Irene provided private care services where she was blessed to gain a special friendship by caring for Mr. Ralph Isenstein who held a very special place in her heart. Irene was a regular attender at Cedar Creek Church where she came to know Christ as her personal savior. She loved to spend time with each of her grandchildren watching them grow and play many sports. Irene especially enjoyed travelling to watch Allie and Katie's many Volleyball tournaments. Irene is survived by her loving husband, Chuck J. Goethals; daughter, Cheryl (Jamie) Lindke; son, Robert (Julie) Henry; grandchildren, Ryan, Allie, Katie, Jared, Josh, Brandon, and Jessica; sisters, Elaine (Bob) Lloyd and Carol Stribrny; brothers, Chuck (Jeannette) Beeler, and Paul (Gloria), David, and John (Teri) Stribrny; step sons, Robbie (Cindy) and Steve (Toni) Goethals. She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Roseann (Byers) Stribrny. Irene's life will be celebrated Wednesday July 6th where family and friends are invited to gather from 12-2 p.m. at Cedar Creek Church followed by a memorial service in the Chapel at 2 p.m., 29129 Lime City Road, Perrysburg, OH, 43551. Our thoughts and prayers are with your family. It's so hard to believe we saw each other just a few months ago. It was so nice to see her and everyone. So sad as cousins we couldn't have spent more time together to get to know each other. I know she was proud of her grandchildren. May your memories soon bring smiles to replace the tears. Our deepest sypmathy
