GERDING

Jacqueline

Jacqueline Gerding passed away peacefully at Hospice of Northwest Ohio. During her 80 years, Jackie was known for her kind heart, sense of humor and zest for life. She worked in the library at Libbey high school and other areas of the TPS system, and later volunteered at Flower Hospital. Her love of gardening was only exceeded by her love of her family.

Jackie was preceded in death by her loving husband of fifty years, Gerald (Jerry) Gerding, who retired from the TPD as sergeant and later was chief of police at TMHC. Jackie is survived by her children, Pam (Brian) Dettelbach, Kathy (Bruce) Bowles, Nancy (Steve) Eldridge, and Tom (Nicole) Gerding. Granddaughters are Clair, Alissa, Emma, Sarah, and Rachel; grandsons are Chad, Sam and Adam; great-grandchildren are Tom, Nick and Sophia, with two more on the way.

There will be a memorial gathering at 1824 Dority Rd. on Sunday, February 24 from 2-4. Family requests in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio. Arrangements by Thomas I. Wisniewski Funeral Home.

Gerding Family,

I am so sorry to read of the loss of your mother. She was so dear
and sweet in everything she did and spoke.. I feel quite honored to have known both of your parents, through the TPD as well as being your fathers secretary at TMHC. We had so many good times and many special memories remain with me from those days. Our relationship was special as my husband was also a member of the TPD which provided for many stories of the good old days. Both of your parents were very special, we know there will be many love memories to share between all of you for years to come. May all of you carry on the beautiful legacy your parents had for one another.

We send our love and prayers of comfort to the entire Gerding family. Jackie was just such an extraordinary lady, filled with love for her family and friends. She glowed with pride whenever she spoke about you. Jackie was so kind and helpful to Beth when she visited Toledo to take care of her own ailing mom. We draw some comfort in thinking that Jackie has rejoined Jerry, her lifelong sweetheart. Although it was far too soon from our standpoint, we guess that God needed a master gardenerer to make heaven bloom anew. Love, Beth & John Howell

I was so sorry to hear about Jackie. Even as a little kid, I remember thinking that your Mom and Dad were the most loving couple I'd ever known. You guys were SO good to your Mom as her health deteriorated; she knew you loved her very much. I think of her fondly and have to smile, knowing Jackie is again reunited with your Dad.

I am so sorry for your loss. I really didn't know your mother but my father Roy H. Maier who was a police officer with your father on the Toledo Police Dept. and also then they worked in the police office at TMHC together. And my husband also knew your father as he too worked at TMHC as a custodian at the time your father worked there. And I never knew that your father passed so we are sorry for the family.
