James M. Cady

James M. Cady, 76, passed away peacefully on August 13, 2025, in Sylvania, OH. He was born August 7, 1949, in Toledo, to Edward and Margaret (White) Cady. He attended Whitmer High School and served in the U.S. Navy as a Radarman during the Vietnam War.

He was proud to be a firefighter with Toledo Fire and Rescue where he met many lifelong friends. He enjoyed spending as much time as he could with his family. He was the best kind of stubborn, fiercely loyal, generous, and helped countless people over the years, sharing his time and skills along the way.

Jim is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Janice; daughter, Jessica, and her husband, Anthony Lambrecht, who has become just like a son to him; grandson, AJ Lambrecht (grandpa's buddy); and sister-in-law, Nancy Kurth. Also, those left to remember his smile are Sally Harms, Linda White, Ginny Barkman and many more dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff at Hospice of Northwest Ohio and Divine Rehabilitation and Nursing at Sylvania for all their special care and support of Jim.

Family and friends are invited to visit on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., at Ansberg-West Funeral Home, 3000 W. Sylvania Ave., where a Last Alarm will begin at 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Toledo Firefighters Museum.
