James Claus Obituary
October 30, 1955 - May 13, 2025
James Edward Claus, age 69, of Toledo, Ohio, passed away on May 13, in his home. He was born on October 30, 1955, to Ben and Donna Claus on an Air Force base in Bitburg, Germany. Growing up in Toledo, he attended St. Patrick of Heatherdowns, St. John's High School (1973), and Xavier University (1977), graduating with a degree in accounting. For most of his career Jim worked as an estimator with his father and brothers at Blade Printing Company.
Jim had a passion for golf, becoming Heatherdowns Club Champion in 2004 and Senior Club Champion at Toledo Country Club in 2008. His passion wasn't just for the game, but for the time he spent with his friends on the course. He had a very close relationship with his nieces and nephews, and he loved taking them to dinner for their birthdays. Jim was his own man: generous, quirky, funny, sensitive, honest, loyal, and certainly one-of-a-kind. He could stir up trouble with his verbal wit, and he enjoyed weekly lunches with his brothers and sister. His family would like to thank all Jim's friends for bringing joy, laughter, and care into his life.
Jim is survived by his siblings, Michael (Janet) Claus, Susan (Chris) Muller, and B.J. (Tammy) Claus; his nieces and nephews, Joe (Susan) Claus, Andy (Tiffany) Claus, Bill (Mollie) Claus, Peter Muller, Mary (Taylor) McNeill, Clare Muller, Katie Claus, John Muller, Erin (Griffin) McDonald, and Emily (Aaron) Grau; and six grand-nieces and nephews.
Friends and family may gather at Coyle Funeral Home, 1770 S. Reynolds Rd., Toledo, OH, on Tuesday, May 20, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Service at 12:00 p.m., to honor James' life. Interment will follow at Resurrection cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the donor's choice, and condolences may be left at CoyleFuneralHome.com
