James Etue Obituary

ETUE James E. James E. Etue, 79, years of Medford Lakes, NJ and formerly of Erie, MI, died Friday, May 8, 2009, in Virtua Memorial Hospital Mt. Holly, NJ. He was an administrator in the Food Service Industry most of his life. He retired from Ogden Foods of Michigan and Philadelphia and had previously worked for Gladieux Corporation in Toledo. He also was co-owner of Soil Control Products in Medford, NJ. The son of George and Beatrice (Cousino) Etue, he was born July 19, 1929 in Toledo. A 1948 graduate of Monroe High School, he also attended the University of Toledo. James served aboard the USS Bryce Canyon in the US Navy during the Korean War. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus in Medford and past member of Erie VFW Post #3925 where he served in many offices. He is survived by his loving wife, Carole (Stewart) Etue; son, James A. Etue; brothers, and sisters, Rosemary (Leo) Riehle, Jean Boudrie, Joanne (Bill) Wood, Sandra Frome, Gerald Etue; grandchildren, Tyler Etue, Keanu Etue, and extended grandchildren, Christina and Christopher; sister-in-law, Joann Etue; brothers-in-law, Leonard Sulewski and Marion Evans, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by brothers and sisters, George Etue, Thomas Etue, Jeanette Sulewski, and Carol Evans. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 2 till 8 p.m. in the Bedford Funeral Chapel, 8300 Lewis Ave., Temperance, MI where VFW services will be held Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday at 11:00 a.m. in St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Erie, MI, where he will lie in state from 10:30 a.m. Interment will be in the Church Cemetery where Military Honors will be conducted by the VFW Post #3925. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, or VFW Post #3925. Online condolences may be shared at www. bedfordfuneralchapel.com

You have my deepest sympathy on your loss. Jim was a classmate and friend of mine. I enjoyed visiting with him at our class reunions. He was one of the "good guys".
