James Frankowski Obituary

James D. Frankowski

11/25/1937 - 07/27/2022

James D. Frankowski age 84 of Northwood, OH peacefully went to be with the Lord surrounded by family on Wednesday July 27, 2022 after a lengthy illness.

James was born November 25, 1937 to the late Stanley and Helen (Nowak) Frankowski in Toledo, Ohio on a cold Thanksgiving Day. He was a retired 35-year employee of General Mills. James was a true outdoorsman. He was one of the first charter boat captains on Lake Erie. He was an avid hunter, trapper and fisherman. He also sold countless pelts throughout the United States and Canada. James also had a passion of carving duck decoys and had put endless hours into making each one perfect. He was very proud of them and showed everyone that came to his home. On weekends you could find James at a local flea market or auction finding his next treasure. James also enjoyed going to the Hollywood Casino and playing cards or dice games while spending time with his sister Gina.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Kay; son, James Jr.; aunts, Virgie and Dorothy and a nephew, Michael. James is survived by his son, Jeff (Beth) Frankowski of Vermilion, OH; grandchildren, Jeffery II (Alexandra), Jessica, Jerrid (Rebecca), Jacob (Quincy) and Zakery; plus bonus grandchildren, Jayden and Cashden; great grandchildren, Addisyn, Aubree, Aurorah and Gavin. He is also survived by his sister, Gina Klear, niece Kathy and nephew, Eddie. James will be greatly missed by all.

The family will be receiving friends in the Urbanski Funeral Home a Life Celebration Home 2907 Lagrange St Toledo, Ohio on Monday August 1, 2022 from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. where service will begin at 6:00 p.m. Burial will be at Mt. Carmel Cemetery at a later date.

God bless the many friends and family of Jim. He will be cherished in only great thoughts. Jim always brought a smile. He was a great co-worker and mostly a great friend.

My sympathies to Jim's family and friends. I knew Jim from the flea markets. He was always talkative and friendly. I think they should name a booth at the drive in market in his memory. He will be missed by many.

Jim was my hero when I was growing up in Toledo. I followed his guidance to become a charter boat operator and Jim and I became close friends.
The world of outdoorsmen have certainly suffered a loss.
Rip Jim, I will see you on the other side.....

Jim Frankowski was a wonderful friend to us. He shared his extensive knowledge of wildlife and how to sustain and harvest them. He hunted with Mike for many years. Jim shared his knowledge and gun expertice with Renee showing her what she needed in only 15 minutes. We hunted with Jim for many years. Any time spent with Jim was a joyful outdoor experience.
Jim will be greatly missed.

Jim was the epitome of being an outdoorsman! He was a figure always present at Magee Marsh WA, controlled waterfowl hunts, Lake Erie Waterfowl Festival, Trapping and the Decoy Carvers show. He was a gifted man with so many outdoor talents gained thru a life time of hunting fishing and trapping. He (and Kay) taught me alot about trapping. I will miss my visits with Jim. What a tough as nails guy and a heart of gold.
