James Pollex Obituary

James E. Pollex

James E. Pollex, age 71, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, October 11, 2021, at Mercy St. Vincent's hospital with his beloved wife, Linda, by his side.

A true gentleman. Words cannot describe the wonder of this quiet man who loved his family above all. He was generous with his time and talents and was always willing to give a kind word or advice but only when asked, then delivered with kindness and patience. He was a Finish Carpenter at heart and loved working with his hands which included working on his dad's beloved 1976 Cadillac Eldorado. Each one of his sisters would never deny Jimmy was their favorite.

Jim served in the U. S. Army returning home to work in the Steel Industry for almost 25 years in Operations, Sales & Product Management at Art Iron, Inc., Alro Steel and Marmon Keystone before making the decision to pursue his passion as a Self-Employed Finish Carpenter specializing in historical restorations and kitchen/bath remodeling.

He was not one to be idle & always had a list of "projects" to be completed. Full retirement was never an option as he continued home projects or helping family and special friends with their home repairs.

Jim was born August 8, 1950, in Toledo, Ohio to the late Dr. James Pollex and Betty Bairley. He is survived by his loving wife, Linda (White) Pollex; daughters, Sarah (Jamie Huggett) Pollex, Kate (David) Hartwigp; stepsons, Kenny (Judy) Donley, Scott (Megan) Donley; grandchildren, Millie, Gretchen, Noah, and Owen;

sisters, Chris McGrellis, Kitty (Ted) Cupp, Lyn (Jim) Zahradnik, Karen (Jim Crammond) Pollex, Drew Bairley, Jill (Larry) Baer and Kim (Craig) Gabel; brothers, John Pollex and Kurt (Jennifer) Pollex; his father's widow, Donna Pollex Najarian (Pete); along with many other nieces, nephews; and family members.

A very special thank you and appreciation to niece, Ashley Clegg, for her invaluable advice, patience and 24-hour support during this difficult time. Also, a thank you to the team at Mercy/St. Vincent with a particular thank you to our friend, Michelle Hickam.

At Jim's request, services will be private. The family suggests those wishing to make memorials in Jim's memory, do so by contributing to the charity of their choice. Online condolences to
