James S. Rieger Sr.

RIEGER James S. Sr. James S. Rieger Sr., age 73, a life long resident of Sylvania Township, passed away Sunday, March 4, 2007, at the Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg. Jim was employed with Jeep for more than 27 years, retiring in 1989. He remained a strong supporter of Sylvania Northview High School Sports, even after his grandchildren graduated from the school. Jim was proud to have served with the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a long time member of both the Veterans of Foreign War Post 2898 and U.A.W. Local 12. Jim is survived by his son, James S. (Michele) Rieger Jr.; grandchildren, Brock (Gene Gothke), Cheyenne and Ryan Rieger; great-grandchildren, Lexie Marie and Aubrey Luree (who will arrive soon); sisters, Delores (Dick) Billiter, Marjorie Thompson, Larene Oswalt, and brother Walter Rieger. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Agnes Rieger; sister, Joyce Obenhaur; brothers, Orville, Harold and Burton Rieger and his faithful K-9 companion, Sassy. Friends may call at the Reeb Funeral Home, 5712 N. Main St., Sylvania, OH, Thursday, March 8th from 4 - 9 p.m., where funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. with Evangelist James S. Rieger, Jr., Officiating. V.F.W. Post #2898 will conduct services at the funeral home Thursday evening at 7 p.m. Those wishing to give memorials are asked to consider any hospice organization.
