Jane Hartman Obituary

HARTMAN M. Jane M. Jane Hartman of Swan Creek Retirement Village, Toledo, passed away in the Swan Creek Health Care Center, Toledo, on Wednesday, November 7, 2007, at 8:55 a.m. She was born in Upper Sandusky, OH on August 19, 1928, to Mr. and Mrs. Vernon R. (Edith M. Huffman) McBeth. She attended Upper Sandusky High School and Bowling Green State University. On August 2, 1952, she married Dr. Fred C. Hartman, Veterinarian and they established the Hartman Veterinary Hospital. In conjunction with the hospital, Jane added a dog grooming salon which she operated for 20 years. Dr. Hartman preceded Jane in death in the 1980. Jane's life long interest lay greatly with all animals, large and small and their protection from inhumane treatment. This interest eventually led to creation of the spay/neuter program for all animals who are adopted from the Toledo Animal Shelter. From the mid 60's Mrs. Hartman was a member of the Toledo Animal Shelter Association and Auxiliary, later becoming board member and in 1987 became president of the association which position she held until April 2000. Mrs. Hartman was a member of Hampton Park Christian Church and their Women's Fellowship. There are no immediate survivors except for many loving cousins and a cherished extended family; Joe and Francine Grzechowiak and daughters all from the St. Louis, MO area. Mrs. Hartman felt her life was truly blessed when her beautiful little Jesse (canine) came into her life by way of the Animal Shelter. There will be no visitation or services in Toledo. A graveside services will be held on Monday, November 12, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. in the Old Mission Cemetery, Upper Sandusky, with Rev. Cathy Wirth officiating. Visitation will be on Sunday, November 11, 2007 from 4-6 p.m. in the Bringman-Clark Funeral Home, 226 E. Wyandot Ave., Upper Sandusky, OH 43351. Memorial contributions may be made to the Toledo Animal Shelter Association, 640 Wyman Road, Toledo, OH 43609 or to the Life Care Fund, Swan Creek Retirement Village, 5916 Cresthaven Lane, Toledo, OH 43614.
