Janet Bodnar Obituary
Janet Kay
Janet Kay Bodnar, 73, of Whitehouse, OH, died December 17, 2015, at St. Luke's Hospital. She was surrounded by her loving family. She was born May 4, 1942, in Toledo, OH to Fred and Reba (Rapson) Lentz.
Janet worked as the church secretary for 33 years at Neapolis Church of Christ. She attended Hope United Methodist Church in Whitehouse, OH.
She married Stephen Z. Bodnar September 1, 1961. He survives along with daughters, Teri (Tom) Bodnar-Smith, Dorothy (Jerry) Schaffner, and Tammy Heinisch; grandchildren, Stephen Britton, Missy Martin, Joel Schaffner, Jason Schaffner, Melissa Coon, Zackary Britton; 11 special great-grandchildren, and sister, Nancy Meister. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services will take place Saturday, December 19, 2015, at 12:00 p.m. at Peinert-Dunn Funeral Home, Whitehouse, OH. The family will receive guests from 10 a.m. until time of service. Interment will follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Grand Rapids, Ohio. Memorial contributions can be made to Hope Church. To leave an on-line condolence, please visit

Your mom was such a special lady. Always had time to visit and share and get her work done! Mom and I shared a memory this morning from about 38 years ago. We were having a surprise anniversary party for my mom and dad and had advertised it in the church news the week before. I did not know that dad was writing an article for it. I swiped the church news out of our mailbox so they would not see it. Dad went to the church office the next day and ask your mom for another one- she could not "find one" any where. Didn't even have one for her desk. Went to Betty Jo's , she hadn't gotten hers yet. Went to Sherley's and she had already "thrown hers away." I wrapped it in a box and gave it to them at their party! He laughed and laughed- said he knew something was wrong- Janet always had extras! Great woman with great sensitivity to others and their needs. Bet she's having a great time!
