Jean Baranski Obituary

Jean Baranski (Erndt)

Jean Marguerite Baranski (Erndt), age 97, passed away peacefully on September 15, 2025, at Oakleaf Village, Sylvania. She was born on May 23, 1928, to Eugene and Mary (Treina) Erndt in Toledo, OH. Jean was a woman of deep faith, steadfast devotion to family, and tireless service to her community.

A proud graduate of Woodward High School, Class of 1947, Jean went on to work for 10 years in the stationery department at Lamson's. Jean married Edwin Baranski, in 1953. Together, they built a loving home in West Toledo, where Jean resided for 66 years, and raised 3 children. Ed preceded her in death on May 6, 1992. Jean's life was deeply rooted in her faith and her church community. As a longtime member of Grace Lutheran Church, she served in numerous leadership roles, including Chair of Christian Education and teacher at Sunday School, and longtime leader and teacher at Vacation Bible School. She also chaired the Funeral Luncheon Ministry for over 30 years, led the Grace WELCA (Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America) as president, and was instrumental in various fundraising efforts and was known as a behind-the-scenes force in every church event she touched. She was a proud member of Beta Sigma Phi sorority for over 77 years, serving in many roles. She traveled across the United States with friends and helped with the Toledo Kennel Club Dog Shows. Jean was also incredibly creative and gifted with her hands. She loved sewing and creating countless crafts for church events and festivals.

Jean is survived by her three devoted children, Steven Baranski, Linda Nienaber (Roger), and Bradley Baranski (Lisa); and two cherished grandchildren, Shawn and Scott (Tracey) Okonski. Jean lived a life of quiet strength, service, and love. She will be remembered for her unwavering faith, generous heart, creative spirit, and deep commitment to family, friends, and community.

Visitation will be at Grace Lutheran Church on Monday, September 22, 2025, from 11 a.m. until the funeral service begins at 12 p.m. Interment will follow at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to Grace Lutheran Church. Online Condolences to
