Jerome Jacobson Obituary

Dr. Jerome M. Jacobson, 89, died August 7, 2005. He was born in Toledo, Ohio, attended Scott High School, and graduated from Ohio State University. He was an army veteran of World War II. He practiced Optometry in the Spitzer Building for 50 years. Afterwards, he retired to Sarasota, FL.
He was a member of the State of Ohio Higher Education Facility Commission, appointed by previous Governor James Rhodes. He served on the Board of Trustees of the Salvation Army. He was a 50 year member of the Toledo area Boy Scouts of America. He served on the Board of Trustees of the Collingwood Avenue Temple and of the Jewish Community Center. He was a member of Kiwanis.
Survivors include his wife, Edna; a daughter, Helen of Randolph, NJ; a son, Larry of Lincolnshire, IL; a brother, A. Louis of Toledo; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
His burial was at Palms Memorial Park in Sarasota, Florida. Memorial service took place at Kobernick House, also in Sarasota.
Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Southwest Florida, 5955 Rand Blvd., Sarasota, FL 34238.
