Edith Louise Fields Obituary

Edith Louise Fields, age 88 of Newark, Ohio, joined her husband of over forty years, Pastor John Fields Jr, in heaven on October 20, 2025.

Edith was born in Conesville, Ohio July 6, 1937 to  parents Carlos and Ernestine Guilliams.  As an adult, Edith resided in Newark, Ohio where she retired from the Meijer store. Edith was a member of Welsh Hills Baptist Church in Granville, Ohio where her husband had been Pastor. She loved Jesus and shared His word whenever there was an opportunity. She was a true prayer warrior.

Edith loved her family immeasurably. Jesus called Edith to be a nurturing caregiver, at which she excelled. Edith will forever be known for her kind, compassionate, loving demeanor. She loved to visit the Amish country as much as possible. There were many family card games with her siblings and family reunions that brought her much joy. Edith was always pleased to vacation in Gatlinburg, Tennessee and other eastern Tennessee and Kentucky tourist areas. She loved to collect Angel figurines and to read about Angels.

Edith is survived by her sons, Les Ames (Kim) of Prospect, Ohio;  Mark Fields (Darlene) of Newark, Ohio; grandchildren, Stephanie Ames of Norwalk, Ohio, Zach Ames (Robbie) of Wooster, Ohio, Meagan Rickard (Brad) of Heath, Ohio; a great granddaughter,  Adriah Davis of Heath, Ohio; brothers, Donald Guilliams of Oregon, James Guilliams of Ohio, Carlos Guilliams, Jr of Ohio, Phillip Guilliams of South Carolina and William Guilliams of Pennsylvania; and sisters, Barbara Kent of Massachusetts, Sharon Aronhalt of Ohio;

In addition to her parents, Edith was preceded in death by her husband Pastor John Fields Jr.

Friends and family may call from 11 to 1 p.m. Friday, October 24, 2025 at Vensil & Chute Funeral Home | Newark.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, October 24, 2025 at 1:00 pm at funeral home.  Burial will follow at Wilson Cemetery.  Edith would be honored for you to join the procession to her final resting place.

Everyone is welcome to share personal memories of Edith during the service. The family invites guests to wear something with the color blue in honor of Edith's love for that color.

In honor of Edith's great love of children, the family suggest memorial contributions be made to Nationwide Children's Hospital in Columbus, Ohio.

"To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. A beautiful flower has been added to the Master's bouquet."

We think of you often. Sorry we didn't make back to see you in the last few months. Praying for you Mark.

I realized that the best thing I can do to honor your memory is to take up praying where you left off. I believe that would make you happier than anything else. So, I will pray for Mark, Meagan, Adriah, Brad, Les, Kim, Stephanie, Zach, Robbie, and your second great grandchild on the way. I know you prayed for each and every one of them daily. I will now for you. I have only one regret, and that is Mark and I never got to tell you that we found a church to attend permanently. Rest in peace until we meet again. I love you.
With all my love,
Darlene
