Joan Thieman Obituary

THIEMAN Joan L. Joan L. Thieman, age 86, of Toledo, passed away peacefully on May 29, 2008, at Kingston Care Center. She was born on July 27, 1921, in Toledo to Karl and Esther (Hewitt) Laub. Joan graduated from Libbey High School and attended the University of Toledo where she was a member of Alpha Omicron Pi sorority. On April 17, 1943, Joan married Harry H. Thieman Jr. and they recently celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary. She was employed by Toledo Public Schools for more than 20 years, retiring in 1984. Joan led a full and active life. A devoted and loving wife, mother, and grandmother, she looked forward to family picnics and holiday get-togethers and the company of many lifelong friends. She enjoyed playing bridge and was an active member of the Flower Hospital Auxiliary. Joan and Harry loved to travel and enjoyed going on cruises and traveling internationally. She brought joy to the lives that she touched and she will be greatly missed by all who knew her, especially her family. She is survived by her husband, Harry; sister, Mary (Walter) Cain of Bay Village, Ohio; son, Gary (Cheryl) of Sylvania Township and daughter, Linda (Steve) Gallegher of West Chester, Ohio; grandchildren, Lori (George) Boyer, Jeff (Stephanie) Thieman, Brian (Amanda) Thieman, Michele (Brian) Toelke, Michael (Regan) Gallagher and Melissa (Aaron) Hurst and 10 great-grand-children. Friends may call at Sylvania United Church of Christ, 7240 Erie St., Sylvania, OH on Tuesday, June 3 after 10 a.m. with funeral services to be held at 12 o'clock noon. Entombment Toledo Memorial Park. Those wishing to give memorials are asked to consider Flower Hospital Auxiliary, Sylvania United Church of Christ or Hospice of Northwest Ohio. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the caregivers at Kingston Residence of Sylvania, Kingston Care Center of Sylvania and Hospice of Northwest Ohio. Arrangements entrusted to the Foth-Dorfmeyer Mortuary.

Thieman Family,
Aunt Joan will forever remain in our hearts- she was truly a genuinely wonderful person. Even though our times together later on in life were few,- Aunt Joan always remembered all of our family's birthdays,anniversaries, and holidays. We will miss her.
