Joanne Szalkowski Obituary
Joanne V. Szalkowski, 95, of Toledo, OH, passed away July 22, 2023, at the Lakes of Monclova, Maumee, Ohio. Joanne was born in Toledo on March 6, 1928 to Othel and Ruth (Conaway) Bennett.
Joanne was a faithfull, lifelong member of Church of St. Andrew United Methodist Church. She was also a life member of Calumet Chapter, Order of Eastern Star, and was a volunteer for over 30 years at the Toledo Hospital. She enjoyed her church family and the many occasions to spend time together, and the many friends she made with the organizations she was part of over the years. Joanne loved going on trips and traveling with her husband and her family.
Joanne was preceded in death by her husband, of 57 years, Raymond; her parents; sister, Maribelle Sanzenbacher; and infant brother, Gordon. She is survived by children, Debra (Duane) Haas, Randall (Cathy) Szalkowski, David (Deb) Szalkowski, Ted (Amy) Szalkowski and Beth (Ronald) French. Also surviving are 8 grandchildren, Kevin (Meaghan), Michael (Sara), Jeffrey (Emily), Veronica, Anna (Mike), Kendra, Laurel and Abigail; 5 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Nance Zeadker; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at the Walter Funeral Home, 4653 Glendale Avenue, on Sunday, July 30th, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Her funeral service will be held at Church of St. Andrew, 3620 Heathersdowns Blvd., Toledo, Ohio 43614, on Monday, July 31st at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Joanne's memory can be made to Church of St. Andrew, UMC.
