John Collier Obituary

John Fredric Collier

12/28/1944 - 2/22/2025

John "Poppa" Fredric Collier, 80, passed away in his home in Toledo, Ohio, on February 22nd, 2025, with his loving daughter by his side. He was born in Harrisburg, PA, on December 28th, 1944, to Fredric and Nancy Collier and later served in the United States Marine Corp from 1962-1965. After moving to Toledo in 1966, he met his beautiful wife, Linda (Cookie) Simon and they spent 45 beautiful years together. They had two children, Laura and Fred Collier. John really enjoyed fishing, walking, horseracing, gardening, listening to music, and especially chocolate milk. His absolute favorite, however, was going on outdoor adventures with his grandchildren where they spent their time riding bikes down hills, walking along the train tracks and parks, and driving around in his big red truck. He was the best Poppa. John was preceded in death by his wife, Linda; his parents, Fredric and Nancy; and his brother, David.

He is survived by his siblings, Nancy and Veronica; daughter, Laura (Fred); his son, Fred (Carol); his grandchildren, Jessy, Sammy, Stephanie, Matt, Bailey, and Graham; his great grandchildren, Avery, Zeke, and Axl; and his lifelong friend, Allan.

A private cremation ceremony will be held where John and Cookie will be together again, in a location special to the both of them.
