John Connolly Obituary
John Francis Connolly, Age 66, passed away on April 27, 2022 surrounded by his family in his home in Sarasota, FL after a year-long battle with cancer.
John was born April 7, 1956 in Toledo, OH. He was a 1974 Graduate St. Francis De Sales High School and The University of Toledo in 1979. John married his high school sweetheart Elizabeth (Liz) Jones in February 1980, and their daughter Courtney was born in November 1984.
John had a lifelong career in the architectural glass industry. He joined Libbey Owens Ford in 1979 and was transferred to their Laurinburg, NC facility in 1985 where he resided for 14 years. In 1998, John accepted a position as a Sales Manager for LOF's Western Division and relocated to Seattle, WA and resided there until he accepted a position in 2000 with Oldcastle BE in Warrenton, MO. John became General Manager in 2006 and retired from the company in May 2018. In 2019 the family moved to Sarasota, Florida.
There is only one thing that John enjoyed more than golf and boating and that's hanging out with his granddaughter, Olive. The birth of Olive 9 years ago completely changed and transformed his life. From that day forward he became "Appy". When Olive performed her songs for "Appy" he would get teared up every time. John touched many lives throughout his lifetime. He was generous with his time and treasure with numerous charities, his family, and his friends.
John was preceeded in death by his father, John (Jack); and his mother, Janet. He is survived by his wife, Liz; daughter, Courtney Schomburg; son-in law, Jon Schomburg; and beloved granddaughter, Olive Jude Schomburg. He is also survived by his sister, Marietta Bobroski; brothers, Steven Connolly and Padraic Connolly; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. A Celebration of Love will be held at the Amenity Center at Esplanade at Palmer Ranch in Sarasota, FL on May 13, 2022 at 3:00 p.m.

Sad to see John's obit, being UT & SFS golf alumnus, we were for years apart, so our paths never crossed but I did catch up with John at the 1995 US Open at Shinnecock Hills, John made the cut and shot 296 one shot ahead of two time Masters champion Ben Crenshaw

I went to Christ the King grade school and St. Francis high school with John. In eighth grade, John, I, and a third classmate we're the school's winning bowling team. (Basically, John carried us to victory.) John was an all-around good guy who was nice to everyone. My sincere condolences to his family.

My deepest condolences to Liz and John´s entire family. I first met John when he was touring Tempglass when he was with LOF. Our paths crossed several times when we both worked for Oldcastle. Always upbeat and helpful is the way I´ll remember him.
