John Friesner Obituary

FRIESNER
John Emory “Jack”
John Emory “Jack” Friesner passed away March 10, 2016, at the age of 82.
The son of Maisie McCaul and Emory Friesner born on July 6, 1933. His unique approach to life and values where from a bygone era. Time and again always with a smile he would offer a hand out to bum or friend. He joined the Air Force at nineteen and proudly served his country for 20 years during which time he had tours in Vietnam, Korea, and Alaska where he spent many hours hunting the rugged terrain. After retirement from the military, he returned to Lowell opening Grand River Bait and Tackle. He later moved to Toledo, OH, where he was employed as Plant Manager at Toledo Blank, Inc. before traveling back to Alaska and on to Arizona prospecting with his brother and nephew before eventually ending up in the Florida Keys where he remained for 6 years before returning home. He only ever had one true love in his life, the Grand River. From boyhood he would take any and every opportunity to drop a line in its water or trap its banks. Those that loved and admired him, along with the friends he created and the lives he touched, are far too numerous to mention. He was a Loyal Member of the Moose and VFW Post.
He is survived by his son, Mark Friesner; sisters, Kay Fosnaugh (Mike) of Toledo, OH, Debby Vogel of Mooresville, NC; brother, Roger Holtz of Toledo, OH; as well as his many cousins, nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his ex-wife, Gail Friesner; brothers, Bruce Friesner and Bill Holtz.
A wake celebrating his life will be held at The Lowell, MI, VFW Post #8303 at 1:00 p.m. on April 1, 2016. Please no flowers or cards.

I learned a lot from Jack just in typing his handwritten papers from volumes and volumes of spiral-bound notebooks. Did you know that he never wrote on the backs of pages? :) A great man that will be missed.

Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends at this sad time.
