I am sorry to hear of John's passing. I knew the Peebles family when I lived in Lyons Ohio. I knew Amy and Ina. I did not know John well but I remember that great things were expected of him. It seems that he did not disappoint. I tan across his obituary while searching for his sister. They wete a family who left an impression on me.

I served with John (Peebs) in the 180th in Toledo and just learned of his passing. The other thing we had in common was serving in Vietnam and being Fulton county residents.

Along with Nelson and Marilyn Showalter we just learned of John´s death. Our sympathy to you Barb and to your family on John´s death. Our memories go back to January 24, 1969 when we all started TWA together. John was the shining star of our class and when he went on to big and better things, we weren´t surprised. We are saddened by your loss.

To Barb and my cousins Dick, Amy, Ina, Juell, Lois, and Randy my deepest condolences regarding John. I joined all of you via the video service and really enjoyed hearing more about him. Some things I do recall being told, or in letters, from your mom. Dad (Uncle Spencer) was proud of him I am sure due to his service to our country and his sister’s feelings. (I have a picture of Dad that resembles John in some ways, the hair and face shape.) Peace and comfort to you all. Love, Patty (Pickles) Ham

Barbara and Family, I am classmate, fellow Buckeye and Friend of John's. My last chat together happened at a class reunion. John described flying over the "big house" before 105,000 fans in Ann Arbor. That in itself was an incredible life experience. I'm sure there were many others. My thoughts and prayers will be with you at the funeral and beyond. John Kuenzel

Thank you all for the beautiful comments about John. He was so loved by me and his family. His dynamic personality has been missed for three years as dementia slowly took it away. There were brief moments that he would surprise us with a witty remark. Love to all, Barbara

August 24, 2021

Dear Barbara, I am so sorry to learn of your loss of John. John was a friend, classmate, and in all ways a great man. He should be remembered by all as a military hero who was also a great fighter pilot and always very competitive in all our training and readiness to serve our country. I was surprised when my Aunt Yvonne and Uncle Rudy asked me if I knew him; Yvonne was a Mosier, my Dad's younger sister. They had him at Universal in no time and i see he also excelled there. We had many similarities in our careers. I was at TWA when he interviewed with them; and i was in the Iowa ANG flying the F-100 and the A-7 when he was in the Ohio ANG doing the same jobs.
We always had an interesting career with the classmates that were associated in these identical ways. Again, my condolences on your loss. He was a good friend and I will miss him

John was a great fighter pilot, a brilliant leader, my commander and most important, my mentor and friend. When I was a young fighter pilot in Toledo, John was there to teach all of us to be the best we could be--tough and strong. Heartfelt condolences to Barb and the family. RIP John until we fly fighters together in heaven.

When I was a young teenager, John was my favorite cousin. He brought home USAFA cadets that were dreamy and the Corvette was cool. I remember him flying from the National Guard and dipping his wings over Lyons. So proud he was my relative. Much sympathy to Barb and family.

Uncle John was always one of my favorites. He was always positive oriented and seemed to be such an accepting soul. When his family lived in Delta it was fantastic to have him and the family around. He once told me that anything you want is possible, you just have to see yourself doing it. Wise words from a very wise man. He is forever in my thoughts. One day we will meet again, until then say hello to Dad, Al, and Grandpa.

John was my late husband's roommate for three years at USAFA and his life-long friend. Best men at each others' weddings, pilots of their beloved F -100 aircraft and proudly shared the experience of seeing sons attend and graduate from their USAFA alma mater.
John and Barbara hold a special place in my heart.

A great American, a great friend, a great golf buddy, and a wonderful Academy rival. I lost a lot of USAFA/USMA football bets to John. Kathie and I plan to attend John’s service and pay our respects directly to his terrific bride, Barbara, and family. May God hold John in the palm of his hand.
