John Weislak Obituary

John J. Weislak, 80, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 21, 2005, in The Toledo Hospital. He was born in Toledo on August 13, 1925, to Martin and Josephine Weislak.
John was employed by The Toledo Blade as a station manager for over forty years. He began working for The Blade as a newsboy when he was just 7 years old. John honorably served his country in the Navy during World War II and was a member of Buddy Frankowski Post in Toledo. He was a longtime parishioner of Regina Coeli Church. John loved to travel and enjoyed many trips throughout the world. He will be missed by many for his great sense of humor.
He is survived by his loving children, Janet (Jim) Struble, Diane (James) Hatzer, Gregory (Teresa) Weislak, Dale (Yvette) Weislak, David (Alison) Weislak and Richard (Janice) Weislak; grandchildren, Jason, Jamie and Justin Struble, Brandon, Taylor and Brett Weislak, Jolie, Logan and Anya Weislak, Elizabeth and Katherine Weislak, Joshua and Ashley Weislak, Michael and Mathew Hatzer. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy, in 1985; his parents; his brothers, Joseph, Edward, Chester and sister, Jean.
Friends and relatives are invited to visit on Monday, October 24, 2005, from 2-9 p.m. in the Ansberg-West Funeral Home, 3000 Sylvania Ave., where VFW services will begin at 7 p.m. and a recitation of the Rosary at 7:30 p.m. Prayers will begin on Tuesday at 9:20 a.m. in the funeral home immediately followed by the Mass of the Resurrection at 10 a.m. at Regina Coeli Church. Rev. James Auth Officiant. Interment in Toledo Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Regina Coeli Scholarship Fund in the name of John and Dorothy Weislak, St. Francis de Sales High School Scholarship Fund, or the charity of the donor's choice.
John's family wishes to extend special thanks to the doctors and nurses at The Toledo Hospital in CCU for all of their care, as well as the owners and waitresses at Generations Restaurant.
