John Zibbel Obituary
John Raymond Zibbel, age 73, passed away Wednesday, November 8, 2023 at Flower Hospital. He was born July 13, 1950 to Howard and Rosemary (Schwiebold) Zibbel in Toledo, Ohio. John struggled throughout his life with mental illness, but through it remained a devout catholic and a helping hand to many. He was an educated man who loved to fish and had a deep passion for his family and providing for the homeless.
John is survived by his siblings, Richard (Kathy) Zibbel, Sr., Howard (Phyllis) Zibbel, Frederick (Ann) Zibbel, Rita (Leonard) Buck, James (Donna) Zibbel, and Julie (John) Rettger; as well as many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; and niece, Becky Zibbel.
Family and friends will be received Monday, November 13, 2023 from 3-7 p.m. at Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home (501 Conant Street), with a rosary service being held at 6:30 p.m. A Funeral Mass will take place Tuesday, November 14 at 11:00 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church (2255 Central Grove, Toledo). Deep condolences on John's death. I rode the bus with John to CCHS and graduated with him from OLPH (1964) and CCHS (1968). I remember John as kind, friendly, and intelligent. I predict St. Peter met him at the gate, and all Holy Men and Women of God stood to applaud his arrival. A contribution has been made in John's name to the "CCHS Class of 1968 Fund" (hopefully soon to become an Endowed Scholarship Fund). As he rests in Peace, I am confident he will continue to intercede with Christ when we all need God's help. Warm regards, Donald Stevens
