Jon Dolgin Obituary

DOLGIN

Jon Z.

Jon Z. Dolgin, age 56, of Toledo, passed away in The Toledo Hospital early Monday morning, November 16, 2015. Jon was a graduate of Southview High School. Following graduation, he worked with his father and grandfather in the family business. He was Vice President of Dolgin Jewelers, and President of both Quality Jewelers and Loan Company and Jon Dolgin Jewelers. Jon found it exciting to purchase coins, silver and other items from customers at fair prices.

Jon enjoyed watching all sports, but his first love was harness horse racing. He owned several horses throughout the years and especially enjoyed going out to Raceway Park. Once the Park closed, he and his father tried their luck at the Toledo casino. Jon's dry sense of humor and quick wit were well known to family and friends. His sharp mind and kind heart (that he tried to hide) will be missed.

Jon was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Suzanne Dolgin. He is survived by his sister, Lynda (Steve) Duda of Toledo and brother, Eric (Robyn) Dolgin of Santa Monica, CA.

Services will be at Temple Shomer Emunim, 6453 Sylvania Ave., Sylvania, OH at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 20. Family will be receiving friends on Friday evening from 6:30 to 8:30 at the home of Lynda and Steve Duda. In lieu of flowers, contributions are requested to be sent to the Kidney Foundation of Northwest Ohio, The Humane Society, or a charity of the donor's choice. Robert H. Wick/Winsiewski Funeral Home.

I haven't seen Jon since high school, but I can picture him in my mind's eye like it was yesterday. We weren't even great friends, but he is someone whose memory always stuck with me. There must have been something there, and I think there was. Disheveled. Wry smile. Funny. I always wondered what became of him. So sorry to hear of his early death, but seems as though he had a good life.

Jon was my brother's closest friend growing up. Summer baseball in your backyard ended at dusk and re-started the following day. Visiting Jon & Louis at the store was a Cooper family ritual. So enjoyable. He loved a good 'story'. I'll miss his wit, wry smile, and kind heart. Sincere condolences.
