Joseph Koerper Obituary

KOERPER

Joseph B.

Joseph B. Koerper, 62, of Toledo, was escorted to our Lord on the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception, December 8, 2014, surrounded by his loving family. Joe was born July 24, 1952, in Tiffin. He graduated from Calvert High School in 1970, and earned his degree in chemistry from Bowling Green State University.

Joe was a regional manager for Emerson Process Management, the company he was employed with for over 37 years. A devout Catholic, Joe was a longtime member of Little Flower Catholic Church where he was currently serving on the Pastoral Council and was active in the ACTS retreat community. He also coached CYO sports for many years at Little Flower, touching many lives. Joe also enjoyed golf and exercising at the St. James Club, but found his greatest enjoyment in spending time with his beloved grandchildren.

Joe's faith was an inspiration to many. He had a strong devotion to the Blessed Mother and was an avid supporter of the pro-life movement, spending countless hours in prayer. He will also be fondly remembered for his positive demeanor and for the uplifting bear hugs offered to everyone he met.

Those left to cherish his memory include his mother, Marjorie Koerper; former wife and friend, Carole Koerper; daughters, Jessica Daschbach, Amy Koerper and Megan Koerper; grandchildren, Jimmy, Abby, Kyle, Blake, Bella, Cameron and Isaac; siblings, Bob (Cathy) Koerper, Jane (Larry) Cook, Mike (Carol) Koerper and Teresa (Dale) Kramer; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Bernard, and son, Ben.

Visitation will be Thursday from 5:00-8:00 p.m. and Friday from 2:00-8:00 p.m. in the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave. (west of Corey Rd.) where Joe's ACTS brothers will lead the Rosary at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Funeral services will begin in the funeral home on Saturday, December 13, 2014, with prayers at 9:15 a.m. and proceed to Little Flower Catholic Church, 5522 Dorr St., Toledo, for 10:00 a.m. funeral Mass. Committal services and burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Seeds of Faith (Little Flower Church) or Respect Life (Diocese of Toledo).

Joe was one of my best buds when we lived in the hood at Little Flower area in the late 80's. We played B-ball together at the old church, in his driveway, laughed allot. I remember clearly the time he and I schooled who he called "the twins", that lived across the street from Joe, in B-ball. During the contest Joe kept egging them on, definite trash talker. All-in-all, whether on the mentioned, the LF youth board fundraiser dances, LF youth board meetings, or just laughing and enjoying the times, Joe was a great guy, a good friend. Greatly missed!
