Dear Family; Have you ever imagined what it was like to attend high school with Juelden? Well I am a witness, I was there at Anthony Wayne High School, in Whitehouse, Ohio, I can tell you all about it:
Juelden (said jewel-DEEN) was like speaking to a diamond when you said something to her in high school. The many facets of this polished gem deflected your words into a million directions. You wondered if you said too much instead of too little to her. Her bright eyes would focus on you and you could seldom perceive what she would say next. Here is how she is remembered by her class in the senior yearbook: "She could talk her way through sheet iron!"
She served as Class Reporter her sophomore year for the "Dispatch", she was in Latin Club, the theater Antonians, and sang in a pure tone for Chorus and Glee. She was a stunning cheerleader, and in the Girls Athletic Association. I well remember her in our advanced science classes and she was in the Science Club. Whenever I read and reread Jane Austen's "Sense and Sensibility," for me she IS Eleanor Dashwood.
Juel was part of a group of girls who entered Mr. Herb Metzger's chemistry and physics classes; a practice not popular for girls in the Fifties. She kept us boys on our toes because her questions in class and her perception on how things worked astonished us and I took to calling her Madame Curie. Whom incidentally, she resembled as an upper classman always wearing her hair short and close like in a pixie! She got even with me in May 1957 by threatening NOT to sign my senior yearbook. I was so sore that day. Then suddenly in the hall, she came up holding her ball point pen like a scepter. I tore open my "Trail Blazer" in wonder, and she signed her portrait with a royal flourish! I felt like I had just been saved from execution by a queen's pardon.
Today I remain her most loving and faithful classmate. --Mike Elling, Sharon, Tennessee

Mrs. Pope was a loving, caring and exceptional teacher. I was a in her class when her husband passed and we are cared for her as through she was family. I spend many weekends traveling with her and classmates for the opening and closing team. She was a true leader. She was a wonderful person and teacher and will truly be missed.

The world lost an amazing woman! I was blessed to have Mrs. Pope for my Cosmetology instructor at Penta County JVS. (She also talked me into being in VICA.) I learned so much from her, including lessons that could not be pulled out of a text book. My prayers of strength to the family as she always talked about you and loved you all so much!
