Kenneth Kauffman Obituary

Kenneth James Kauffman

Kenneth James Kauffman, age 61, of Toledo, Ohio, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, February 23, 2026, after a long and courageous battle with heart disease. Ken was born in Lorain, Ohio, and raised in Elyria. He graduated from Elyria West High School in 1983.

Ken proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1983 to 1985 and received an honorable discharge, reflecting his strength, dedication and love of country.

Ken was a devoted husband to his high school sweetheart, Kimberly (Scarbrough) Kauffman, with whom he shared 41 years of marriage built on love, warmth, laughter and special memories.

He was a loving father to Amber Kauffman; Ronald Kauffman and his wife, Alaina; and Chandler Kauffman. His pride and joy was being a Pawpaw to his grandkids, Landon, McKenna and Maverick Kauffman-who brought immense joy to his life.

Ken is lovingly remembered by his sisters, Joanne Myers, Karen Kauffman, and Emma (Duane) Denn; along with his brothers and sisters-in-law, Jeff Scarbrough, Joe (Sherry) Scarbrough, Janet (Gene) Clark, Ella (Chuck) Schuster, Cathy Kauffman and Charles Heath.

He was proceeded in death by his parents, Ronald and Irma Kauffman; his mother-in-law, Mazell (Maynard) Scarbrough; his sister, Diana Heath; his brother, Wayne Kauffman; and his sister-in-law, Amy Scarbrough.

Ken was known for his unwavering faith, his passion for woodworking and his devotion to helping veterans in his work at Lucas County Veterans Services Commission. He also owned and operated The Old-Fashioned Barber Shop in Toledo, Ohio, for five years.

Ken served the Lord in ministry for over 15 years as an Assistant Pastor at Victory Baptist Temple, along with serving as the Christian School Principal and taught several classes.

Ken always had a joke ready or witty remark to make people smile and think. His gentle nature, strong values, and commitment to family and community were a source of comfort and inspiration to all who knew him.

A Funeral Service will take place at Lake Avenue Baptist Church, lead by Dr. Jeffery Smale and Pastor Brady Smale, on Saturday, February 28, 2026, at 10 a.m., with a visitation at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of the service. Ken will be laid to rest at Brookdale Cemetery, in Elyria. A celebration of life service will take place at Northwest Baptist Church, 3906 W. Alexis Road, Toledo, Ohio, on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at 11 a.m.

Ken had a heart for the teens and kids at church, so in lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to Northwest Baptist Church Youth Group to allow teens to attend youth conferences.

Ken will be deeply missed, but his spirit and love will live on in the hearts of family and friends. 440-322-3717, www.buschcares.com
