Mark Bostleman Obituary

Mark W. Bostleman

Mark W. Bostleman of Victor, Idaho, died unexpectedly in a backcountry snowmobiling accident on January 11, 2026, at the age of 62.

Mark is survived by his children, Kendl (Ryan) Planck and Sam Bostleman. He is also survived by his sister, Bonnie Loeser; grandchildren, Kellan and Emerson Planck; and many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Kathleen Bostleman; brother, Richard Bostleman; and brother-in-law, Bob Loeser.

Mark was born June 4, 1963, in Sylvania, Ohio, to his parents, Fred and Kathleen Bostleman. While he was considered a "late in life" baby for this 40-year-old couple, he was welcomed with so much joy by his parents and much older siblings. Mark was often described as a "spirited child," with antics that made some great stories for his family to tell.

Mark was a 1981 Sylvania Southview High School graduate and graduated from Ashland University in 1985, double majoring in theater and radio/television. After graduating, he worked at the Renaissance Theater in Mansfield, Ohio, as their lighting designer, which led him to move to Nashville, Tennessee, with his family, where he worked for multiple country music artists as their lighting designer, as well. After a brief time working for Vari-Lite in Dallas, Texas, he moved back to Toledo, Ohio, so he could join his father's general contracting company, Bostleman Corp.

His fifteen-year career at Bostleman Corp. led him to his love for software development. His entrepreneurial spirit started many ventures in his life both in Ohio and in Idaho, where he moved in 2017.

Along with his full-time job as a senior engineering manager, he co-founded Ascent Kombucha with his partner, Mollie, which was distributed throughout the western states from 2018-2024. Also in 2018, he joined the Teton County Idaho Search and Rescue team, and eventually served as a leading advisor.

Mark will be remembered as a fun-loving and proud father and grandfather, a supportive and generous friend, and adventurous soul. He will be greatly missed by so many people, as well as the dogs he loved, and he will never be forgotten.

Mark's children honored his life and time in Idaho in January, where his ashes were spread on a mountain area that he loved. Another Celebration of Life will be held in Toledo, Ohio, this year with date TBD.
