Fred W. Bostleman, age 92, died on June 1, 2014. He was born on June 25, 1921, in Toledo, Ohio to Frederick and Alice (Marquardt) Bostleman. Mr. Bostleman graduated from Scott High School in 1939, and became a civil service employee for the U.S. Army Air Corp. In 1943, he was drafted into the U.S. Army Air Corp. and served in World War II as an aerial flight engineer. After returning to Toledo in 1946 he founded the Bostleman Corporation, a construction and engineering company that developed into one of the largest general construction firms in the Toledo area, retiring as president in 1982. In the late 1960s, Mr. Bostleman founded Bostleman International Limited, a construction firm on Montserrat in the British West Indies.

He served as a certified arbitrator and mediator for the American Arbitration Association (AAA) and received the association's Distinguished Service Award in 1994. He was also a field associate for the International Executive Service Corp. (IESC).

Fred has served on numerous community service boards including Sylvania Township Board of Trustees, Northwest Ohio American Automobile Association, Toledo Area Regional Transit Authority (TARTA), Sylvania Board of Zoning Appeals, Lucas County Republican Central Committee, YMCA Storer Camps, Lutheran Orphans and Old Folks Home, Great Lakes Senior Golf Association, Toledo Association of Home Builders, Toledo Area Construction Workers Health and Welfare Fund, Associated General Contractors of Northwest Ohio, Toledo Building Congress, Toledo Area Chamber of Commerce, and the Toledo Small Business Association. In 1996 he published a book, "Reflections: Life Stories and Observations."

Mr. Bostleman was a member of Toledo Rotary Club, Toledo Club, Inverness Country Club, American Legion-Toledo Post #335, Sylvania Pyramid Lodge F&AM, Scottish Rite-Valley of Toledo, Zenobia Shrine, Royal Order of Jesters, St. Anthony Lodge #4684, the Wednesday Nooners, Hermits, and Olivet Lutheran Church.

Mr. Bostleman is survived by his children, Bonnie Loeser and Mark (Jennifer) Bostleman; daughter-in-law, Konni Bostleman; grandchildren, William (Evy Jarrett) Bostleman, Linda (Kevin) Schutt, Diane (Adam) Lehman, Jeff Loeser, Mark Loeser, Kendl (Ryan) Planck, and Sam Bostleman; great-grandchildren, Katie Bostleman, Beth Bostleman, Calvin Bostleman, Bradley Lehman, Blake Lehman and Parker Lehman. Mr. Bostleman was preceded in death by his loving wife of 59 years, Mary Kathleen (Shaner) Bostleman; his son, Richard Bostleman; his sister, Dorothy Patton, and son-in-law, Bob Loeser.

Friends may visit at the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Avenue (west of Corey Road) on Thursday from 4-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Olivet Lutheran Church, 5840 Monroe St. in Sylvania on Friday at 11 a.m. with Pastor Chrysanne Timm officiating. Interment will be private at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Fred W. and Kathleen Bostleman Scholarship Fund at the University of Toledo Foundation, 2801 West Bancroft, Toledo, OH 43606 or Olivet Lutheran Church Bell Choir.
