Kerry NAGY Obituary

NAGY Kerry L. The loving family of Kerry Lynn Nagy mourns her passing on August 1st, 2010. Having fiercely battled cancer for three years, she spent her last days in the comfort of her home surrounded by family and friends dear to her. She died as she had lived, concerned for the well-being of her family. Kerry was born in 1943 to Donald and Roxanne (Van Loton) Beck in Potterville, MI, where she lived until her graduation from high school. She met the love of her life, Eric Dennis Nagy, in Key West, FL where he was serving in the US Navy. They married and produced four children while dwelling in 14 homes ranging from Massachusetts to California, finally settling in Toledo 24 years ago. A red-headed, spunky tower of strength for her family, Kerry was blessed with grace, a generous spirit, and a wonderful sense of humor. These helped her survive many tragedies in her life, including the deaths of her younger brother and mother when she was only a teenager as well that of an infant son before she was 30. Kerry did clerical work after her children were grown and spent the last 18 years with the IRS, retiring in 2009 from the Criminal Investigation Division, a job she found most engaging and challenging. She has been an Al-Anon member for 17 years and rarely missed a meeting of her group. Very involved in the fight against breast cancer, Kerry was active in the Relay for Life ,and her team was renamed Kerry's Krusaders in her honor. In her spare time, she was an excellent creative cook, gardened, read, cherished her five grandchildren and was always there when needed by family or her many, many friends. An anonymous and greathearted giver, she organized raising money and gathering donations for victims of the Murrah Federal Building bombing in Oklahoma, the 9/11 attack on the World Trade Center, Hurricane Katrina and other disasters. Kerry was devoted to her husband and truly was the matriarch of her family, in whom she instilled the values of love, faith, loyalty, education, and laughter. She enjoyed hosting family gatherings and especially treasured the annual Christmas Eve sleepover with all her children and grandchildren. Admired and loved by many, she will be greatly missed and remembered fondly. Kerry was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Roxanne Beck; stepmother, Alice Beck; cherished friend and mother-in-law, Eleanor Nagy; father-in-law, Sam Nagy; brother, Donald Eric Beck and son, Daniel Peter Nagy. She is survived by Eric, her husband of 46 years; daughter, Kimberly Steinbock (Keith); sons, Mike Nagy (Kelly), and Joseph Samuel Nagy (Lori); brothers, Michael Beck (Lori), Timothy Beck (Laura); sister-in-law, Judith Nagy Cattran; grandchildren, Riley Eleanor Steinbock, Danny Steinbock, Madison Grace Steinbock, Mikey Nagy and Logan Nagy, as well as six nieces and nephews, especially Leigh Cattran. All are feeling her loss, as it is difficult to imagine our family without Kerry. Arrangements are being handled by the Coyle Funeral Home on Reynolds Road where friends will be welcomed on Wednesday, August 4th from 2 to 8 p.m. There will be a prayer service at Coyle's at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, with the funeral following at Park Church, Harvard and Glendale, at 10:00 a.m., the Rev. Ed Heilman officiating. A luncheon will be served immediately thereafter, with private graveside services to be held later in South Amherst, OH. At CoyleFuneralHome.com expressions of sympathy would be gratefully appreciated and might include words of comfort and remembrance, flowers, which Kerry loved, as well as donations to Hospice of Northwest Ohio, which has been an amazing blessing to the whole Nagy family.

Not sure what to say?

August 12, 2010

I am an old school friend of Kerry Lynn's. We went through Potterville Schools together, and she was always a bright spark in all of our lives. We recently celebrated our 50th reunion and had asked Kerry to attend but she was not able. I last saw her at an all-school alumni banquet and she was a delight as always. We have so many fun memories of things we did together years ago. I'm sure you have lots of old pictures of Kerry, but if you are interested in having more, contact me and I will send what I have. I know I speak for all of my class members when I say how much we adored her and will miss her. Mary Jo Twitchell Gorsuch and Diana Long Boyce. My addresses are [email protected] or 5165 Easy St., Nashville, MI 49073

I was out looking for an obit of friend of an unfortunate incident when I came across Kerry's obit. I did not know her or any of her family but she gives me inspiration and belief that all it does take is one person to make a difference regardless of how big or small. Wish I had known her! My sympathy to her family and friends in this time of loss as she sounds like she was a very caring, loving, giving, fun-loving spirit!, and remember, all you have to do is "ask," as I am sure she will be watching out for each and everyone.

I was just out looking for an obit about a friend of an unfortunate incidence when I came upon Kerry's obit. I did not know her nor any of her family, but reading her obit gives me great inspiration and belief that there is nothing too big that one person alone can somehow make a difference. Would very much liked to have known her! My deepest regards in this time of your loss, and hope for anybody having known her, that her spirit will give you strength in this time of your loss, as she sounds like she was a very strong, loving,caring,generous,fun-loving, and unselfish spirit. God bless, and remember she will always be there, all you need to is "ask."
