Kristine LaValley Obituary

Kristine M. LaValley

Kristine M. LaValley died peacefully in her home surrounded by her loving family on May 27, 2025. She was born in Toledo, Ohio, to Ray and Judith (Taylor) Hood on October 12, 1960. She grew up in the Toledo area and attended St. Ursula Academy and The University of Toledo.

Kris met the love of her life, Daniel J. LaValley, at age 14 and they were married in 1982. They were together for 50 years. She was top in sales for multiple companies after college. In the years after, she dedicated herself to her five adopted children. She was always there as a shoulder to cry on or to lend a listening ear. She was known as "Grammy" and "Graham Cracker" to her 11 grandchildren who were the lights of her life, and she was so excited for the 12th due this summer. She showered each one with love and support and each felt that they were her favorite.

You could usually find Kris playing word games, Mahjong, and Rummikub. She loved spending winters at their condo in Florida, enjoying the sun and drinks on the beach. In the summers, she enjoyed taking golf cart rides to the Sandbar and visiting her neighbors in LaSalle. Dan and Kris loved to travel, especially to visit family in Ireland and wineries in Italy and France. Her husband and family, along with her Catholic faith, meant everything to Kris. She made friends everywhere she went. She was positive, outgoing, the life of the party, and always had the biggest smile. She was selfless, supportive, and loyal. Kris was a loving friend who touched many with her positivity, kind words, and laughter; her spirit was contagious.

Kris' ascension to heaven will leave a void in the hearts of many, including her husband, Daniel J. LaValley; children, Daniel R. LaValley, Alyssa A. Reiter (Jake), Brian R. LaValley (Elise), Kelsie L. Moritz (Jordon), Ana E. Andrews (Wayne); grandchildren, Danny, Julian, Brooke, Makayla, Olivia, Jacob, Henry, Isabelle, Athena, Lou, and Lillian; siblings, Martin Hood (Nancy), Michael Hood (Betsy), and Elizabeth Bialecki. She was preceded in death by her parents.

A heartfelt thank you to Hospice of Northwest Ohio for caring for Kris with such care and compassion in her final days.

A visitation will be held at Walker Funeral Home (5155 W. Sylvania Ave.) on Thursday, May 29, 2025, from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with a Rosary service at 7:30 p.m. A funeral Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sylvania, Ohio, on Friday, May 30, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in honor of Kris to Hope Learning Academy of Toledo or Christ Child Society of Toledo.

I became friends with Kristine when we worked together at Toledo Trust (with her Dad) and enjoyed her bubbly personality and friendly demeanor! My husband and I attended your beautiful wedding. Never saw her over the many years but was sad to learn of her passing. Our heartfelt condolences to Dan and extended family.
Sincerely,
Christine (Gary) Muckenthaler
