Laura Kahle Obituary

Laura Kahle

08/16/1945 - 12/25/2024

Laura (Stutz) Kahle was born on August 16, 1945. She was born in northeastern Willard, Ohio. Granddaughter of Eva Maude Reed-Kelley-Steiert and Roy Steiert; daughter of Ethel Mae Kelley-Stutz and Charles Robert Stutz. She attended Willard High School and graduated from Washington College Academy, close to Johnson City, Tennessee. WCA was a Presbyterian school dating back before the Civil War and was used as a barracks for a time during the war. Laura worked for RR Donnelly & Sons in Willard, Ohio, for several years before marriage.

Laura and John Kahle were married on August 27, 1966. Laura is the mother of three children, Timothy John Kahle, Jason Todd Kahle, and Kristin Leigh Kahle. Laura and John lived in Tiffin, Ohio; Fremont, Ohio; (during husband's basketball years) Massillon, Ohio; and Toledo, Ohio. They lived in Toledo, Ohio, for 25 years until the kids had all graduated from college, and spent 25 years in San Diego until locating in the Villages, FL, for the last 8 years.

Laura was co-founder of St. Joe Fremont, Ohio, High School in starting a cheer block for the St. Joe girls. In Toledo, Laura started the first contemporary music worship teams of both St. Patrick's of Heatherdowns, as well as a women's worship team at Trinity Lutheran. In Toledo, Laura was President of Toledo Central Catholic High School mothers club for three years, and co-founded all-night post-graduation party. They had 100 parents working on food, prizes, radio station, skits, and local bands during the night until breakfast (which is still in existence today at Toledo Central Catholic).

In San Diego, Laura was active in women's groups at church, book clubs, San Diego cinema society, and literary society. She was an avid walker and played tennis and was known for being on the tennis courts with her circle of friends. Laura fulfilled a dream of going to Isreal and being baptized in the Jordan River with Horizon Christian Fellowship

Laura was an avid traveler to Italy several times, as well as Spain, Austria, Switzerland, London, Scotland, Germany, Greek Islands, Turkey, Hawaii, Mexico, and South America with the family. Laura and Kristin traveled together yearly, as a mother daughter trip, going to multiple counties and cities.

Laura self-described most remarkable life events were meeting and marrying her husband John, of 58 years, and being mother to her three children. Family was extremely important to Laura, and Laura and her sisters started a scholarship for the many of their nieces and nephews. When the oldest citizen of Willard, Ohio, who passed away at the age of 102 passed away (Donald Reed) childless and left inheritance to all nieces and nephews. So, Laura and sisters provided for the next generation of nieces and nephews to fund educational goals. Laura's educational goals included her going back to school as an adult and earning a B.S. degree from Walsh College and a master's degree from University of Toledo.

Little did I know that when I joined Trinity's contemporary choir ruined by Laura that we would build a true long lasting endearing friendship that lasted 45 years. You will always be my "sister in heart"

We only met Laura once, but it was a pleasure and see why her daughter Kristin is such a loving person, just like her Mom.
