Lawrence Tomczak Obituary

Lawrence Michael Tomczak

Lawrence "Larry" Tomczak, "Mr. Versatility", the "Polish Prince", age 82, passed away at home, Wednesday, January 22nd, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on January 14, 1943, in Toledo, Ohio, to Roman and Helen (Sagan) Tomczak Zglinski and stepfather Adam Zglinski. Larry was a member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Parish and a former parishioner of St. Jude Parish, Toledo.

Larry married Dyan K. (Penny) Clendenin on February 24, 1968, the love of his life of 57 years. He is survived by his loving wife, Dyan K. (Penny); his daughter, Aletha (William) Starcher; son, Damian Tomczak; sister, Pam Baumia; sister-in-law, Tina (James) Bodnar; brother-in-law, Scott (Susan) Clendenin; and godchild, Shelly Mutchler; also many nieces, nephews, and numerous friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Rita Kelley; brother-in-law, James Baumia; Jan and Linda Clendenin; nephew, Chad Clendenin; and uncle, Erv Wisniewski. He was a devoted husband, wonderful dad, family man, and friend to all.

A graduate of Central Catholic High School in 1961, and an Alumnus of the University of Toledo earning a Bachelor's in Business. He was an independent Agent for Mass Mutual Life Insurance and Investment Company for 42 years. If you knew Larry, or even if you didn't, he would make sure you received one of his "purple pens!" He retired in February, 2024.

A member of P.R.U.C.A., Toledo Regional Chamber of Commerce, Toastmasters International, winner of several speech contests, Toledo Association of Life Underwriters, National Speakers Association, International Association for Financial Planning, Toledo Estate Planning Council, TBIRC Center, Ohio State Jaycees, Rockwell Springs Trout Club, T.D.M. Organization, Northwest Ohio Gerontological Association, Society of Financial Services of Professionals, and I am sure many more.

Visitation will be held Friday, February 7th, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, on Heatherdowns Blvd., in Toledo, with a Mass following at 11:00 a.m. A Celebration of Life will follow at the church. A private burial will follow at a later date.

Thank you to Hospice. Memorial tributes may be made to Central Catholic High School or the donor's choice in honor of Larry Tomczak.

God rest Larry. He was my Parents' advisor and was very helpful to us after each of their deaths.

Dear Dyan, Aletha, and Damian,

I offer to you my sympathy and condolences at this sad time of Larry's passing away. I am one of his classmates from the 1961 class at CCHS.
I remember Larry well. We were in some classes together.
May he rest in peace. Cherish the memories. They become more and more important as time goes on.
Be assured of my prayers for Larry, and for all of you.
