Leiv Platou Obituary
Leiv worked for Gulf Oil for 37 years. He was active in the community. The Chimney Rock Center was renamed, The Leiv and Betty Community Center. He served 25 years on the crime stoppers board, past president of Westbury Civic Club, Westbury Area Improvement Corp. and P.I.P. He received the Jefferson Award in 1992 and many others.
He graduated from the University of Toledo in 1949. He served 3 years as a tank driver in World War II. His outfit was attached to the 36th Infantry.
A private graveside funeral was held at Huffman Cemetery. Instead of flowers please make donations to Westbury United Methodist Church, 5200 Willowbend, Houston, Texas 77096.
Services were entrusted to the care of Sterling-White Chapel, Highlands.

Dear Betty,We remember so well the nice days in Canandaigua last time. And in 1978, when you both visited us at our cabin. Leiv has done much good for other people, you too. Blessed be his memory.

Dear Betty - Leiv was one of a kind and a priceless asset to our community. He was the most giving person and a good friend to anyone he crossed paths with. I know he will be greatly missed, but he has been welcomed home by many more who love him.

Dear Betty,
We were so sorry to hear of Leiv's passing, and send our deepest condolences to you and the family. Leiv will be remembered in our prayers, and the Southwest Civic PIP will honor his memory at our November meeting with a moment of silent prayer. We are diminished.

So sorry to read about Leiv's death in the Toledo Blade. Mom called to tell me about it and I wanted to send our condolences and offer our sincere sympathy to all of you.
