Louise Werbe Obituary

WERBE Louise France The children and grandchildren of Louise Werbe announce with sadness the death of their mother and grandmother on Thursday, August 2, 2007, at her home in Pully, Switzerland. Louise was born in Toledo on December 19, 1925. She was the fourth daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harrie France. She graduated from The Smead School, and then from Smith College in 1946. She married Richard Henry Werbe, from Anderson, Indiana November 8, 1947. Louise and Richard moved to England in 1955 and to Switzerland in 1960. Richard died June 6, 1979. Louise is survived by her sons, Richard H. Werbe Jr. and William France Werbe, who live in Switzerland, Stephen France Werbe, who lives in Pennsylvania and daughter, Louise Werbe White who lives in England. Her eleven grandchildren live in Switzerland, England, Botswana and the United States. Her sister Elizabeth Lewis lives in Van Wert, Ohio. Louise will be buried next to her husband, Richard in the family plot in Woodland Cemetery, Van Wert, Ohio. Donations may be made in Louise's memory to: The African Program The Wildlife Conservation Society, 2300 Southern Boulevard, Bronx, NY 10460 or The Smead School for Girls Scholarship at Maumee Valley Country Day School. The endowed scholarship was created in memory of Mr. and Mrs. Harrie France by their daughters, Helen Foster, Juliet France, Elizabeth Lewis and Louise Werbe.

Louise and I were in the class of 1942 at Maumee Walley Country Day School. We had many wonderful times at her house and at school. We were a very close knit class of nine girls. Best wishes to the family
