Louvenia "Lou" McQueen



Louvenia "Lou" McQueen Greene, age 72, of Adrian, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, March 8, 2014, under the care of Hospice of Lenawee. She was born October 29, 1942, in Prattville, Alabama. In 1960, Lou married Booker T. McQueen and to this union, two children were born, Alvenia Yvonne McQueen and Andrew Booker McQueen. On October 29, 2005, she married James Greene in Toledo.

Lou worked for E.O.P.A., Economical Occupation Planning Assoc., in Toledo, OH. She served as the Director of the Foster Grandparents Program in Toledo and was also the Director of the American Red Cross of Toledo. Lou worked for the Dillard's Department Store in Toledo and went on to serve as the manager of Vistula Manor Senior Living, retiring in 2006. She attended Mt. Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church in Toledo, where she was a member of the usher board and later became a member of the Bethel AME Church. Some of Lou's favorite pastimes included traveling and shopping. Her greatest joys were her family and especially her grandbabies. She was a very generous and loving person to all who knew her.

Lou is survived by her husband, James of Adrian; a daughter, Alvenia Yvonne McQueen of Alexandria, Virginia and a son, Andrew McQueen of Toledo, Ohio; a stepson, Scott (Vermonica) Bell of Toledo, OH; 6 grandchildren, Jonathon, David, Marquelle, Alicia, LouAnn and Olivia and a one on the way; her siblings, Willie (Lois) Gibbons of Prattville, AL, Jean Brown of Toledo, OH, Mary (Robert) Noble of Toledo, OH and Preston (Annette) Gibbons of Plymouth, MI; her "play" sisters, Pauline Livingston, Mary Smith, both of Toledo, OH and Terry Nobles of Adrian, MI and special friends, Dionne Hennigan and Darlene Carson. Lou was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters.

Visitation for Lou will be held from 11:00 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. on Friday, March 14, 2014, at the Anderson Funeral Home, 3050 W. Beecher Rd., Adrian, MI 49221 with Pastor Lynn Jackson officiating. Funeral services will follow visitation at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, March 14, 2014, at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Bethel AME Church. Envelopes are available at the Anderson Funeral Home, Adrian. You may send condolences to the family at
