M. KACZMARZYK Obituary

KACZMARZYK Sister M. Angelita, OSF 1922-2012 Sylvania Franciscan Sister M. Angelita Kaczmarzyk died on May 21, 2012, at Rosary Care Center in Sylvania, Ohio where she lived as a resident for the past four years. The daughter of Michael and Susanna Kaczmarzyk was born on June 29, 1922, in Sepulveda, California. She came to the Sylvania Franciscans on August 15, 1937. She professed her first vows as a Sister of St. Francis on August 18, 1943, and her final vows on August 18, 1946. Sister Angelita spent 40 of her 69 years of ministry involved in elementary teaching in Catholic schools in Toledo and Fremont, Ohio; in Detroit and Garden City, Michigan; in Minneapolis, Minnesota; and Los Angeles, California. She worked in parishes in Toledo for 17 years doing domestic services. She did office work at Providence Care Center in Sandusky, Ohio for eight years until her failing health brought her to Rosary Care Center in Sylvania where she continued her ministry of gracious hospitality and prayer until her death. Sister Angelita was well prepared for the ministry of teaching which she loved and found very fulfilling. She received a B.A. and a B.S.E degree from Mary Manse College in Toledo with a special concentration in Spanish. Known as "Angel" or "Suzie" to her friends, Sister Angelita had a ready smile and a story for anyone she met. The stories were usually about her family in California, especially her beloved brother, sister-in-law, nephew, and niece. She never forgot her California roots and enjoyed her yearly visit with her family as they treated her to some of her favorite sites. When she returned she would give a play-by-play report of all she had seen and done at Disney World, Knott's Berry Farm, and various gardens and restaurants. She especially enjoyed a trip to Hawaii a few years ago with her family and shared her album and stories with anyone who came to visit her at Rosary Care Center. Sister Angelita will be greatly missed by her Sisters in Community, her special friend, Sister Janeen Sobczak; her family; many friends, and the staff at Rosary Care Center. There will be a Welcoming for Sister Angelita in Our Lady Queen of Peace Chapel at the Motherhouse of the Sisters of St. Francis in Sylvania from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Thursday, May 24, 2012. Her funeral liturgy will be at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, May 25, 2012, preceded by visitation throughout the day. Interment will be in Porta Coeli Cemetery on the Sylvania Franciscan Motherhouse grounds. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sisters of St. Francis, Sylvania, Ohio. Arrangements by Thomas I. Wisniewski Funeral Home, Toledo, Ohio.
