Manuel Jr.


Manuel Soto Jr., 66, of Temperance, MI, passed away Saturday, February 23, 2014, at The Toledo Hospital. Born March 4, 1947, in Laredo, TX, he was the son of Manuel and Carmen (Guardiola) Soto Sr. He married his loving wife, Sara (Nico) Soto, on May 10, 1969, in Erie, MI. Manuel served in the Marine Corps, in Vietnam, and was honorably discharged with the rank of Corporal on June 24, 1970.

Surviving is his wife; sons, Anthony, John, Manuel, and Armando Soto; 12 grandchildren; sister, Armandina (Frank) Gardull. He was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, John Anthony.

Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 25, at the Michael W. Pawlak Funeral Home, 1640 Smith Rd (at Jackman), Temperance, MI, where rosary services will take place at 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 26, 2014, at 10:15 a.m. in the funeral home with Mass of Christian burial following at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 628 Locust St, Toledo, OH at 11:00 a.m. Fr. Joseph Poggemeyer, officiating. Interment will follow at Toledo Memorial Park, Sylvania, OH. Donations may be made in form of masses.

Manny was a good man. I met him in grade school in Erie, MI. Then when he was on the TPD I ran into him and renewed our old friendship, as I was on the TFD. So sad to see him taken so early. Prayers for his family and friends. May he rest in peace.
