Marcella Joan



Marcella Joan Kaminski, age 78, of Toledo, passed away on Wednesday, January 9, 2013, at Spring Meadows Extended Care surrounded by her loving family. She was born on April 28, 1934, to Felix and Viola (Wongronski) Smigielski in Toledo, OH. Marcella enjoyed being a homemaker and also had been employed by Fanny Farmer Candies and Haas Jordan. She was a Girl Scout volunteer and a Cub Scout Leader. A longtime parishioner of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, she was active in the Blessed Sacrament Parent Club, and also volunteered for the school playground and library. Marcella enjoyed her extended "family" in the Spring Meadows community where she served as President of Resident Council and Advocate for the Residents. She loved crafts, cards, bingo and bus excursions which she helped organize.

Marcella is survived by her daughter, Debra (Robert) Jacoby; sons, John (Lori) Kaminski and Todd (Jill) Kaminski; sister-in-law, Bernadine Smigielski, and grandchildren, Abigail and Emily Jacoby, Alex, and Natalie Kaminski, and Kaitlyn Maxon. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Kaminski; sister, Rose Marie Kaifasz; brothers, Felix "Phil", and Norman Smigielski, and grandson, Charlie Jacoby.

Family and friends may visit on Friday, January 11, 2013, from 2-8 p.m. at Sujkowski Funeral Home Northpointe, 114 E. Alexis Rd. Funeral services will begin on Saturday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home with Most Rev. Robert Donnelly and Rev. P. Martin Donnelly presiding. Interment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery.

So sorry to hear about your mom. Often over the years since moving from Blessed Sacrament in the 5th grade, Debbie, I often think of you and your family. I fondly recall spending time at your house, scout meetings, and lunches at your house, especially your mom's homemade ham salad sandwiches on a cold winter's day! My parents and brother John send our thoughts and prayers to you, your brothers, and your families.
