Margaret "Sue" S. (Hefner) Shiple
Margaret Sue Shiple passed away June 29, 2017 at Maplewood at Twinsburg, an assisted living facility in the Cleveland area. After visiting with family members, she closed her eyes and simply went to sleep. Born in Wichita Falls, Texas in 1925, to Dennis and Viola (Reed) Hefner, she was predeceased by her parents, brother Dennis Wade and husband Paul to whom she was married for 68 wonderful years until his death in 2016.
Her children David, Sue, Linda and Paul are very grateful for the years of love she shared with her family. As a member of the greatest generation, she taught us the virtues of gratitude, humility, love of country and looking out for your neighbor. Margaret was the kind of mother, wife and daughter with which every child, husband and parent should be blessed. She adored her family above all else, and that was made very clear to each of us.
Taught by her mother and grandmother, from an early age, she developed a great love for needle arts. From embroidery to crewelwork to quilting, every family member owns at least one of her beautiful quilts. She stitched away the hours while watching her favorite films on The Movie Channel. A fan of many handsome leading men, it was always a good movie if it starred Glenn Ford or Robert Taylor. Her music interests spanned Nelson Eddy and Jennette McDonald to the great opera tenor Placido Domingo. Always an animal lover, as a small child she was always bringing home lost cats, with which her father was not too happy. As an adult there was always a cat or two in the Shiple household. Her family thanks her for passing along her love of animals to them. Margaret leaves behind cat Danny, age 11, who now resides in California with family members. She was a lifelong Republican, which led to many "spirited" conversation.
Other family members include: Michelle, Aaron and Sandy Shiple, Re Falls, Tom, Rachel, Sarah Latoza, and Kristen, Brittany and Melinda Johnson. Also, sister-in-laws Marcella (Shiple) Haas and Irene (Keckstein) Shiple, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Many thanks to the Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Kingston of Perrysburg, Maplewood at Twinsburg, and Serenity Hospice of Stow Ohio, for the countless hours they spent caring for Margaret and her family. They will never be forgotten.
Friends will be received at Witzler Shank Funeral Home, 222 E. South Boundary St., Perrysburg, Ohio (419-874-3133) on Friday, July 7, 2017 from 4:00 PM-8:00 PM and Saturday, July 8, 2017 from 10:00 AM-11:00 AM. Funeral services to begin at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at Ft. Meigs Union Cemetery.
