Marian Snyder Obituary

SNYDER
Marian J.

Marian J. Snyder, age 86, of Toledo, passed away on November 15, 2016, after a brief period of declining health.
She was born April 6, 1930, in Toledo, OH to Kyrias “Karl” and Foto Pindoley. A graduate of Libbey High School, she lived in the south end of Toledo most of her life. Marian was a Libbey majorette for four years. She loved to dance on the football field, turning cart wheels and twirling her baton which was her true passion. She also was a “Go Blue” Wolverine fan and made frequent trips to Ann Arbor to the “Big House” to see Michigan football and to hear “Hail to the Victors”played by the marching band. She loved animals and her one and only cat named “Crackers” was not just an orange tabby cat. He was born on the fourth of July and was her companion, pal and her comfort in time of need. The orange tabby which was 19 years old died December 21, 2013. He was so sick and she just could not keep him any longer and parting with him was the most difficult thing she had to do.
Marian met Richard H. Snyder at “Rainbow Gardens” in Fremont, OH. They met during the Big Band era and danced to the bands of Glen Miller, Tommy Dorsey, Harry James, Sonny Kaye and many more which was a lifetime of beautiful memories. She married him on September 23, 1950, at the Holy Rosary Cathedral Church. He died on April 27, 2002, after 52 years of marriage. They enjoyed vacations to Florida, Europe and Mexico. They also had a boat called the “Mariah” and traveled all the Great Lakes. They belonged to the Maumee River Yacht Club and Brandywine Country Club.
She worked for Occupational Safety and Health Administration for many years as a Compliance Officer, then she went to work for the City of Toledo, Department of Neighborhoods as a General Inspector for code enforcement. She had many friends and enjoyed working with all types of people, she retired in 2012.
Marian was preceded in death by her husband and her parents. She is survived by her brother, Donald (Dorothy) Pindoley and 3 nephews, Daniel, David and Donald.
Friends may visit at the Coyle Funeral Home, 1770 S. Reynolds Rd., on Friday from 2-8 p.m. where a scripture service will be held at 7 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady Queen of the Most Holy Rosary
Cathedral where the family will receive visitors beginning at 9:30 a.m. Entombment Toledo Memorial Park.

Iwas so sorry to read about Marian's passing. We were not in the same classes from 1944 to 1948, but enjoyed watching her during the football games. We connected these past years at the 1948 Ladies Spring and Fall luncheons at the Black Pearl. My daughter and I will miss her. Eileen (Marggraf)Kobee
