Marion Risk Obituary

Marion A. Risk

Marion A. Risk passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on March 3, 2024, just shy of his 105th birthday. He was born in Caddo County Oklahoma on April 18, 1919; the sixth of nine children. His family relocated to Missouri where he attended public school and the University of Missouri. Go Tigers!

After his service as a Marine officer in World War II he settled down with his bride Jean Kirtland Risk in Toledo where they raised their son Gregory and daughter Marilyn. Marion was always innovative as evidenced in how he ran his business; his engagement in civic activities starting one of the city's first neighborhood block watch groups; engaging others in political discussions and how he loved everyone for who they were. His regard for the people in his life and his relationships with others were two of the ways he lived his Christian faith. As a long time member of Hampton Park Christian Church, he served on every committee imaginable and knew the intimate details of the building on Monroe Street. The storms of life did not miss Marion but he weathered them all with great resolve, hope and assurance in his Lord. He was a man of great empathy for others and was a blessing to his family for showing them how to live an exemplary life.

He leaves behind his son, four grandchildren, four great grandchildren and innumerable nieces, nephews and in-laws who will be gathering privately to celebrate what would have been his 105th birthday. Pursuant to his wishes, there will be no memorial or services. Those who wish to honor his life may do so by making a donation to Hospice of Northwest Ohio or Hampton Park Christian Church.
