Marjorie Kimmet Obituary

Marjorie J. Kimmet

Marjorie J. Kimmet (Houck) died March 9, 2025, in Oregon, Ohio. With the help of Hospice Care 360 and The Gardens of St. Francis, she lived her last years in a caring environment. She was known for her great smile, hair, and silly t-shirts, as well as her Bingo skills.

Marjorie grew up in Tiffin, Ohio, as daughter to George F. Houck and Rosella K. (Blum) Houck. She attended St. Joseph Elementary and Calvert High School (1960). She was preceded in death by brothers, George Houck and Alan Houck; and survived by siblings, Ronald Houck, Mary (Tom) Younkin, and Paul (Gretta) Houck.

Marjorie was a stay-at-home mom who enjoyed gardening, reading, crocheting, accounting, puzzles, gin rummy, and board games. She loved having a good time with family! She later worked as a parts manager at Sheits Motorsports in Fremont, and worked at a plastics company and door and window company thereafter.

Marjorie was involved at 3 different parishes during her lifetime because faith was important to her. They included St. Mary's Catholic Church (Millersville, OH) where she enjoyed the Alter Rosary Society and Parent Club, Holy Family Catholic Church (Marion, OH), and Little Flower Catholic Church (Toledo, OH) where she was a Bingo volunteer and donated crocheted baby blankets.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Eldon G. Kimmet. Together they raised four children, and enjoyed 4 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Marjorie is survived by Kelly J. Kimmet-Larsen (Toledo, OH), Jerome M. Kimmet (Richmond, IN), Robert E. Kimmet (Greentown, IN), and William G. Kimmet (Kingsport, TN); grandchildren, Rachel (Justin) Phillips, Julia Larsen, William Kimmet and Michael Kimmet; and great-grandchildren, Layla, Noah, Elyse, Rylan Phillips, and angel baby Phillips.

Marjorie will be missed by all who loved her.

Family and friends may visit Monday, March 17, from 10-11 a.m., at Little Flower Catholic Church, 5522 Dorr St. The Funeral Mass will follow at 11 a.m. Interment will be at a later date in Resurrection Cemetery.
