Mr. Knerr was a great teacher. He always made history class interesting and fun. We had many discussions regarding the settlers and the Native Americans; I always took the side of the Natives. He was also a very nice looking man & well dressed which many of his female students appreciated. My thoughts and prayers are with his loved ones.

I have never forgotten "Mr Knerr". I was in his American History class and I worked for him in the office. I was somewhat of a troublesome student but Mr Knerr always supported me (and was amused!) I vastly enjoyed his dry sense of humor!!! Veda Lau Roberts, class of '63

Simply, I became a History Teacher and administrator largely because of Mr. Kneer's influence. If all educators would be as effective as he was, the profession would be held in much higher esteem.

I am so proud to have been a friend of Mark Knerr. He was an educator to me and then we joined Rotary International via the Waterville Club together in 1971. He took the ideal of Rotary "Service Above Self" very seriously and it is seen in his service to the community and the school system. We had just begun the Mark Knerr/Waterville Rotary Student of the Month. Mark you will be missed in more ways that you can ever believe.
Your friend and fellow Rotarian...

I don't believe Mr. Knerr ever stopped impacting the lives of those around him. His humble generousity always amazed me. He was a true supporter of education in every sense of the word. Thank you for your influence on our community. Your life made such a difference to others.

Mr. Knerr was one of the finest educators at Anthony Wayne High School during my time there. Many members of the Class of 65 continued their contacts with him through the years. I had the pleasure of enjoying some Rotary meetings with him and Jim Pease. We also were pleased to publish his first children's poetry book. His contribution to education, the community and world will be missed. May you rest in peace and continue your legacy in heaven!

Because of Mr. Knerr, I saved thousands of dollars during a 33-year career with the International Business Machines Corporation. He said to always wear a medium-width tie, and as styles come and go you will always fit in. I owned three ties and IBM never knew the difference! Thx Mr. Knerr, you're really swell.

I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Knerr at the Whitehouse Library through Mrs. Barb Smigelski. I didn't know him well, but I have heard wonderful stories through my mother, and Mrs. Smigelski, and I am very honored that my son got the chance to meet Mr. Knerr. May your soul rest in peace dear friend

I knew Mark as a student and then was blessed to know him as an adult through the Anthony Wayne Alumni Association and as an employee in the Anthony Wayne School District. Mark was a good and gracious man whose generosity was famous in the district. I will miss him.

How blessed we were to have had Mr. Knerr in our lives! During a visit back home to Monclova this past summer I was fortunate to have a brief visit with him and bring back his wonderful books for my granddaughter. We have lost another treasure from our youth, however his influence will live on.

I remember Mr. Knerr clearly when my parents sent me to visit his office during the summer before my Senior Year. I had signed up for the required government class and a few other fluff classes and left taking Calculus and Chemistry! I guess he thought, rightfully so, that I was not giving it my best. He was well thought of in the Woods family. Lorraine Woods Alpers

Mr. Knerr shaped my character as much as any of our teachers and administrators throughout high school. His very quiet but very tough demeanor was unique. Instead of raising his voice when students acted stupid or overly juvenile, he relied on body language, reason, and discipline to help us grow up. Equally important, in his own way with his serious and inquisitive demeanor, he took a sincere interest in our interests and growth as people. He seemed to always love being in the hallways chatting with students. What I learned most from him was what he most generously gave to everyone around him - respect.
Thank you, Mr. Knerr
