Mark Sherer Obituary

SHERER

Mark A.

Mark A. Sherer, age 63, of Toledo, passed away after a tenacious battle with cancer on Saturday, February 23, 2013, at Ebeid Hospice Residence, where he was surrounded by his loving family. He was born February 15, 1950, to William and Julia (Warner) Sherer in Toledo. He graduated from Bedford High School Class of 1968, where he was inducted into their sports Hall of Fame having been a member of their only football team to have been undefeated. Mark worked for Freightliner of Toledo as a parts salesman for 19 years. He volunteered at Ebeid Hospice Residence and enjoyed the camaraderie that he shared with fellow support-group members at the Victory Cancer Center.

In his spare time he played on various softball teams, he also coached and umpired. Mark was an avid sports fan; he loved the Michigan Wolverines and the Detroit Tigers. He also liked rooting for his favorite Nascar driver, Dale Earnhardt. Mark's family will remember him for his wonderful personality and how he never seemed to meet a stranger, anywhere!

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 33 years, Thelma; son, Scott (Linda) Radcliff, and daughter, Gwen (Ron) Kauffman; grandchildren, Libby, Amber, Aaron, Kendra, Kaleigh, Zachary and Kenny. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his infant sister, Cathy and brother, Bruce Sherer.

The family will receive guests from 2:00-8:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 28, 2013, and Friday, March 1, 2013, from 9:00-11:00 a.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300). Funeral Services will begin in the funeral home on Friday at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Doug Dean officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Promedica Ebeid Hospice or Erie West Hospice.
