Mark Thees Obituary

Mark E. Thees

February 7, 1961 - August 19, 2023

Mark was born February 7, 1961 in Toledo, Ohio. He was the oldest of five children and father to four daughters. He passed away unexpectedly of natural causes in his home on August 19, 2023.

A graduate of St. John's Jesuit High School, Mark was a devout Catholic with many longtime friends in the Toledo Clergy. Mark attended church every morning with his father, Bill at St. Patrick of Heatherdowns. He was an avid Notre Dame Football fan, a season ticket holder who hardly missed a game. Mark was a highly respected businessman in the Toledo area as the President/CEO of The Pinnacle in Maumee, Ohio for over 25 years. A man devoted to service, he helped many people in times of need including his employees and their families whenever he had the opportunity. He loved to golf and to have his morning cup of coffee with the same group of friends every morning for years.

Spouse to Elizabeth Thees, they met at Meadowbrook Place where their mutual love for food and people brought them together. They served the community together for many years through their multiple business ventures. He was a beloved father to his twins, Taylor and Jamie and step-father to Alex and Sam Crow. Mark was preceded in death by his mother, Shari Thees; and his brother, Paul Thees. In addition to his wife and daughters, he is survived by his father, Bill; and his siblings, Mike (Charlene) Thees, Michelle (Steve) Meehan, Maureen (Jake) Jagos; and sister in law, Michelle Thees. Mark absolutely adored his many nieces and nephews and was a proud new grandfather.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Sisters of the Visitation, 1745 Parkside Blvd., Toledo, Ohio 43607, Monsignor Schmit Youth Foundation, 1933 Spielbusch Ave., Toledo, Ohio 43604, or a charity of the donor's choice. A private service and burial were held. A celebration of life including a Memorial Mass will be announced in the coming weeks.

I´m so sad for Mark´s family and friends...just a great guy to know (golfed in the Dugout League together). Just saw him earlier this summer, while hosting my uncles wake. Enjoyed catching up, talking old times and ND football. Rest in peace Mark and keep your IRISH eyes watching over family, friends and IRISH Football...

Mark and I became acquainted when the Pinnacle took over the concessions at the LPGA tournaments at Highland Meadows. He was such a kind and generous person. He always was checking on me and the crew I recruited to help in the booths. He not only made sure we had all products we needed, often bringing them out to us. He was constantly checking to make sure his staff was on top of things we needed. He also made sure we had visible containers set up for donations.previously we were not allowed to keep them where guests could see them.
Mark was a kind person, never treated anyone of us as nuisances.
Prayers for Mark and his family including the Pinnacle employees. I´m so blessed to know him!
